Nice Restaurant Name…
In Waco, Texas, there’s a new burger joint that opened with the name “Fat Ho Burgers” — as a publicity stunt. Nice job on getting on the news@11 circuit, folks.

Say you have a vast knowledge of linguistics… what would seem like the perfect consulting gig? Contract name analysis? The Name Inspector does just that. Christopher Johnson PhD will help your name your company or analyze your own name ideas for a fee. He blogs about startup names like Blekko and Digg and seems to dislike hate the concept that any name can be an “empty vessel” — suggesting that you can fill it up with any meaning you want.
I wonder what the Name Inspector thinks of company names that are named after people? Such as Eddie Bauer, Charles Schwab, etc. How would “Mike Ho” fare among those names as a corporate identity?
This long-handled garden tool can also be a term for a immoral pleasure seeker…
Happy Lunar New Year! I always forget what year it is, and Wikipedia doesn’t really help with its note that the Chinese year could be 4707, 4706 or 4646. But in any case, here’s to a prosperous year ahead (even though all the economic indicators suggest the opposite).
Just for fun… It appears if your name is Mike Ho, then your hobbit name is Ferdirand Bramble of Willowbottom — according to Chris Wetherell and his Hobbit name generator.
This year is filled with promise and challenges… I hope all the Mike Ho’s out there had a great 2008 — and here’s to a better 2009.
Hope everyone’s having a nice Christmas and happy holidays. T’is the season for joking around with the surname “Ho” — HoHoHo! Somewhat randomly, I’ve recently discovered that the email application Eudora marks “The Ho’s” as a potentially offensive epithet. A friend of mine still uses Eudora (it’s a nice email app, but I haven’t used it since 1997), and we were planning a get together at my place (The Ho’s) when I found out that my last name could be offensive… But it’s kinda funny to me and reminds me of Eddie Murphy making “being a Ho” famous… creating a seemingly endless number of jokes for those who know Asian Americans with this humorous name….
