I wonder what the Name Inspector thinks of company names that are named after people? Such as Eddie Bauer, Charles Schwab, etc. How would “Mike Ho” fare among those names as a corporate identity?

Hope everyone’s having a nice Christmas and happy holidays. T’is the season for joking around with the surname “Ho” — HoHoHo! Somewhat randomly, I’ve recently discovered that the email application Eudora marks “The Ho’s” as a potentially offensive epithet. A friend of mine still uses Eudora (it’s a nice email app, but I haven’t used it since 1997), and we were planning a get together at my place (The Ho’s) when I found out that my last name could be offensive… But it’s kinda funny to me and reminds me of Eddie Murphy making “being a Ho” famous… creating a seemingly endless number of jokes for those who know Asian Americans with this humorous name….

I’ll point out another semi-famous Michal Ho — he spells his name a bit differently, but he’s just missing the letter ‘e’ in there. Michal Ho has a presence on MySpace, promoting his techno/house/electronica music and latest album, Screw The Coffeemaker. I can’t say I’m a big fan of the techno/house/electronica genre, but I’m glad there’s a Michal Ho out there who is.

My sister-in-law sent this video to me.. a little late. I voted by absentee ballot a long time ago, so I’m obviously not the guy in this clip.

In case the video becomes unviewable someday.. it’s a gag, obviously. Moveon.org created it to encourage more people to vote for Obama. The video can be customized for any name so that the recipient will be “shocked” when their own name is seen in the video, blamed for the defeat of Obama.

After a long drought, another Mike Ho left me this message in 2005. I’m guessing there’s a high density of Mike Ho’s in San Jose, California.
